Destin - The Beach

For vacation this year we decided to go to Destin, Florida again.  We went two years ago and absolutely loved it.  We're thinking it might become a regular vacation spot for us.
This time we decided we were going to have a beach front condo to shorten the walk to the beach.

It was so incredible to have this view from our room every day:

Dallin did pretty well considering the weather wasn't perfect.  A little too windy for his taste, but he still managed to smile lots.

We shared the condo with my sister Jody and her family.
Jody and Gemma enjoying a walk on the beach.

The water was really choppy most of the week (red flag status), so you can see the color is a murky green instead of the normal emerald green.  It also meant we spent a lot more time in the sand instead of in the water.

But it made for really fun wave jumping, Miriam's new favorite thing to do.  She really preferred Daddy to help her.  He could help her get a lot more height in her jump!

We managed to get to the beach at least once every day we were there.
Eliza's favorite thing to do was play in the little tidepools with her beach toys.

Dallin's first dip in the ocean.  It was the only time he got in because it was either too windy (hence too cold for him) or too rough water.

The nice thing about this area is you don't find a lot of animal life and seaweed washing up on the beaches (no jellyfish thankfully!)  However, we did manage to find a starfish.

Some days it was too windy for them to even open the umbrellas.

We did have one calmer day when the water was actually it's normal color.  It was crazy to me how quickly it could change colors.

Where Dallin spent most of his time when at the beach.

I was going to try one more time to take him out in the water and then he fell asleep.  Oh well, maybe he'll get more wet time next trip.

The girls had fun with cousin Gemma.

The one calm water day when we could actually go out above our knees.

However, it was a little to chilly to not be in the water, so I was hanging out where it was warm.

It's all fun and games until you get dunked.  Poor Gemma.

We LOVED the beach and can't wait to go back!
