New Floor

This has been a big year for us for home improvement. 

We were fortunate enough to be able to sell our first home (which we had turned into a rental property) for a (small) profit.  This allowed us to make an improvement on our current home.  

We really do put a lot of work and love in each home we have owned.  We were sad to say goodbye to our home on Sandrock, have made so many memories there and put a lot of love and work into that home.  However, we were relieved to be leaving the role of being landlords.  

With our open floor plan, we knew we wanted to have the same, hard flooring throughout the living and kitchen area.  This crazy, uneven dividing line, plus high traffic areas being on carpet helped seal that decision

We really liked the look of wood, but were nervous about putting it in our kitchen where we knew it would get a lot of wear with our busy family.

We got lots of samples, talked to lots of people and heard many opinions.

There were so many pros and cons to each, we finally determined that we just needed to decide what we thought was best for our family and not look back on our decision.

And so we chose wood-look tile.

I think it turned out rather well.

We also repainted the laundry room while we had everything out of the room,  A nice color, Sea Salt.

The tear-out process took two days and the laying of the tile took four.  Fortunately, my sister Jody was going on vacation for a week about the same time we wanted it done,  So we planned to "house/pet-sit" for them while our house was under construction.  As you can see, that was a good plan to be gone during this mess.

And that will be our last major home improvement for quite awhile!
