We Hornbergers like to get together occasionally and go camping. We have a pretty good routine established:
Arrive
Set up tents
Cook brats
Make s'mores
Sit around and talk about nothing in particular
Sleep (hopefully)
Eat breakfast
Go mountain biking
We pretty much do the same thing, at least twice a year at the same place. Devil's Den State Park. The bike trail there is nice because it's not too difficult for us inexperienced mountain biking girls, and the bathrooms are pretty good too.
This was the first time it rained.
And the first time a baby (Miriam) and a kid (Hannah-age 7) came along.
The evening was great--perfect weather and clear skies.
We followed our usual routine, here are some pictures:
Just call Jeremy Paul Bunyan (with his little hatchet), chopping wood for the campfire
Even Jody & Cace's dog Mia loves to camp
Jared's daughter Hannah was a great camper and great helper
Miriam loved being outdoors
She gets into her food
The rain and thunder came at 4:30 a.m. and continued throughout the morning. So we abandoned the bike ride and instead ate our delectable Krispy Kreme donuts (thanks Jody!) in our tent and packed up and went home.
The rain had to happen some time, we couldn't escape it forever. But we all had a good time anyway, especially Miriam.

I love that her play pen came along! That's my kind of camping...not completely roughin' it.
