Kids are energetic.
Kids don't usually try to be careful.
Combine that energy with carelessness and you end up with owies.
My kid have had their fair share of cuts, black eyes, bruises and scrapes.
But we (thankfully) haven't had any trips to the ER.
Until now.
Luckily Stan was the one who was with Eliza when she turfed it. I'm not sure how I would have felt with all the blood coming from her forehead.
It was after dinner. She was running down the hall upstairs towards the bathroom. She tripped and hit her head on the door frame.
After we gave her a Popsicle to calm her down so we could start cleaning her up, here is what she looked like.
We tried to avoid the ER. We went to a convenient care clinic first. They said since it was on her face they wanted a plastic surgeon to stitch it up. So we spent the next 5 1/2 hours waiting in the ER (so much for emergencies, right?)
When the ER doctor finally saw he she said she could glue it (so much for a plastic surgeon).
So they wrapped her up in a sheet, a nurse held her head while she screamed and they glued it back together.
And 3 1/2 weeks later, here's her pretty scar. It should fade more over the next year.
I'm glad that's all over and hope not to see another ER for a long time.
